Kiara Duran: Latina, American and All Heart Join us for one of our Back Porch Concerts featuring Kiara’s unique interpretation of traditional Latin music, her favorite popular songs in English and her award-winning original songs. Be ready to get your hands dirty because you'll get to plant your own crop to cultivate at home. (Recommended for children ages 5 and up) FREE,reservations recommended, as space is limited. Saturday, September 20 & Sunday, September 21 Historic House Trust Festival The Historic House Trust celebrates its 20th anniversary and historic houses in the five boroughs will open their doors for special events and tours. Visit www.historichousetrust.org for information on what will be happening at other sites. At Dyckman the farmhouse will be open its normal hours and will feature special programming focused on the preservation of the farmhouse and the creation of the museum. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The Dyckman Farmhouse is 224 years old, and over the centuries the house has seen lots of change around her. This week, to show how happy we are the Farmhouse is still standing, we are reading The Little House/La Casita by Virginia Lee Burton. This is the story of a little house that was born in the country, but was alarmed when a big city grew up around it. How do you think the Dyckman Farmhouse felt when the city replaced the farm fields that once surrounded her? Come join us and share your ideas, then write or draw your own story of the Dyckman Farmhouse. Join us for a free guided tour that will focus on the early 20th century efforts to save the farmhouse. Guests will also have an opportunity to get up close to some of our more recent conservation efforts. OCTOBER Sunday, October 19 Uptown Treasures 11am-5pm Join Dyckman Farmhosue Museum and its cultural partners in Northern Manhattan for a full day of fun activities. At Dyckman Farmhouse, the farmhouse will be open FREE all day and visitors can enjoy quilt making and cider making demonstrations. |
